KeywordLuv is good for my comment authors to get more search engine favor, but what for me?
This comment on a post in SEO MMO Tips blog inspired me to write something. Let us discuss some good and bad of keywordLuv as a wellknown wordPress plugin.
I don’t know how you think, to find a comment on your wonderful post, made by “Oncelot Directory” or “steam showers” or “Replica Watches” or something similar? It would be a real fun to address “Hi Steam showers, I’m so glad you made a comment on my blog”…Shit!
Let keywords be anchor text or don’t allow URL
You should use your real name instead of keywords. I agree but why won’t you allow your readers to use suitable keywords as anchor text to link back to their website? Don’t you know the links with related anchor text worth much more than my name?
If you don’t wish to let your comment authors reap the relevant link value, you better remove URL field from comment form. If you don’t know how to, please read my post – Remove Website Field from Comment Form. I removed it from my ICT Trends blog.
When you are willing to share the luv and believe what goes around comes around, why won’t you install keywordLuv that lets your readers link with relevant words and you got their real name to build relationship?
What is it good for me?
Well, be proud for your commenters are rewarded properly. You are generous blogger who believe in sharing enriches.
The interaction is more meaningful. You will no longer be talking to “make money online” or “how to rank” but rather to John, Ileane, Kimberley, Kavita, Tuan or Jeevan and the like. Did it not help to build stronger community?
I’d love if all the blogs enabled keywordLuv and we could get meaningful anchor text for the link backs.
What are the glitches?
Type your name @keywords in name box to take advantage. But this has a few problems
Because you typed name and keywords on single box, the whole string is considered as your name. That’s why Top Commenters and a few other plugins that require comment author’s name behave different than what is expected. You find same reader commenting but multiple instances displayed on Top Commenters box.
If keywordLuv plugin offered different field to enter keywords, it would not confuse the WordPress and other plugins. Let’s hope some solution will be developed in future.
Where can I download keywordLuv plugin?
If you are interested on rewarding your commenters with keyword rich anchor text, you can download the keywordLuv plugin, install it on your blog and activate. Please visit the link below to get the latest version of keywordLuv:

The KL plugin does attract more commenters to take part into commenting but it also tends to attract more spam comments too.

I am creating a website and a blog. I heard a lot of good things about this plugin with word press. I am going to test it out for a while and see how it does.
Suresh, I am very thankful to keywordluv as I can have backlinks. But I can’t use it on my Blogspot blog !!
I think Keywordluv is great to help both sides of the field. As long as the post involves relevancy to the post I don’t see it being a problem, I have a few of my blogs that use Keywordluv and havent had any complaints compared to the ones that don’t have it.
Thanks for the great post
Keywordluv is indeed an excellent plugin, though I agree that it would be better if it has one field for the name and another one to enter keywords.
This is very interesting post ,I just recently found about commentluv not to long ago. Have started testing a few things and the search operators will come in handy for sure.
Actually I like CommentLuv and KeywordLuv plugin. When, for expample, I build links for my blog via blog commenting I pay special attention to topic-related blogs with CommentLuv plugin. some time i think that these blogs are made for Seo purposes only. anyway thanks for sharing this nice post.

I think it’s a good tool, many bloggers are joining so commentlvu community is particularly strong,
I admire bloggers who use this plugin. This is what bloggers are all about. Everybody has to help each other out. And this plugin is a terrific way to do that.
To be really honest, I’m not a big fan of plugins like this because it created too many outgoing links that you don’t actually endorse. But if you are using something like that it makes sense to give the facility to add the proper keyword in the anchor text

KeywordLuv is about allowing the commenter to have their desired keywords along with their real name. If you are concerned about the outgoing links, you can make them nofollow. Whether you use KeywordLuv or not you let the outgoing links, it just makes those links more meaningful.
Suresh,
I just learned about commentluv and keywordluv. Since my website is a “homemade blog” (built from scratch) not a wordpress, would those two plug-ins and GASP work with “homemade blogs”? I only see download link for wordpress.
Sorry Solomon, the plugins are developed for WordPress platform. However you can contact the developer Andy to talk more about it.
I installed keywordluv on my blog and i love it.

I agree with you. I changed my blog to dofollow, and I have comment luv. I dont have keywordluv, but it seems pretty cool. Thanks for the tip.
Do you get a ton of spam with this plugin? Since I changed my blog to dofollow, I tend to get a lot of fake comments, but it only takes a few seconds to delete them, so its okay.

There is no trouble of fake comments after you install GASP by Andy. All the automated spam bots are blocked and the Akismet inside does a good work of throwing some human bots into spam folder.
After reading your blog content some of the doubts of keyword luv comment that usually create confusion has been cleared. Thanks for the information.
Fantastic blog, thanks! I think Keyluv really helps and is a good service to the website marketing community. Thanks and keep up the luv!
Thank you Bob. I will.
I think that Keywordluv brings a lot of additional traffic to one´s blog. You get more unique content which is also a ranking factor for the google bot. So, the owner and the blogger take advantage from this system.

Hi Suresh,
I HATE KeywordlLuv.
If you consider any one would comment this then I am sure he is totally insane.
Well KeywordLuv is most widely used plugin and also one of the best in my opinion.
Sorry John, but I could not get your meaning here.
Personally I like KeywordLuv plugin very much. When, for expample, I build links for my blog via blog commenting I pay special attention to topic-related blogs with KeywordLuv plugin. They are especially useful for SEO purposes.
I agree Terje. Thank you for stepping in!
Great Plugin. I’m using it on most of my blogs and recently even added a comment policy (on Technshare) for using keywordLuv properly.
Thanks for sharing this great post. Have a great weekend, Suresh.
Hi devesh!
I remember Adamobile who remarked how blog commenting became a science when blogging was intended as an ongoing diary or commentary by an individual (http://seommotips.com/blogging-tips/blog-commenting/). I believe blogging is no more an online diary but already an online business. Your recent post (tutorial) should be an aid on this direction.
Thanks for stopping by and your comment.
By the way, KeywordLuv anchored text links are useless if the blog is still nofollow
This is a great misconception Udegbunam. Its not only dofollow links that contribute to your ranking. Make a proper study nofollow do contribute. A natural mixture of nofollow and dofollow link backs will help you boot PR.
I had to remove KeywordLuv and Dofollow on my second blog ’cause I didn’t want it to become a target for backlink seekers just as my first blog with PR3 has become.
Ain’t no way I’m removing my URL field ’cause it’s the only chance I’ve got to know the commenter better by visiting his/her site
Hahaaa.. Me too! I won’t remove URL fields from blogs where my commenter are blogger themselves. But I safely removed it on a blog where my readers were students and candidates of jobs exams.
Thank you Udegbunam for the comment.
Suresh, I am very thankful to keywordluv as I can have backlinks. But I can’t use it on my Blogspot blog.
Hi Andri,
I used IntenseDebate commenting system when blogging in blogspot platform. If you install IntenseDebate, there is option to enable commentLuv even for blogger blogs.
But, if you are aiming for serious blogging and make something out of it, I strongly suggest to WordPress as soon as possible. I’m been through blogspot and understand how it feels ‘half-blogging’.
I am on the way to relocate my blogspot to wordpress. I had acknowledged the difference.
Suresh,
I agree with your analysis of keywordluv. As long as someone is going to give link juice up for blog comments they should allow keywordluv. If you are going to give up the link juice, why not make sure it is as valuable as possible to the people you are giving it too.
It just makes sense to me.
Thank you Steve for stopping by. I truly appreciate. Lets hope keywordLuv will bring real bloggers into community.
You did bring up nicely the pros and cons of keywordluv and it is true that it is way better to interact with someone who has a real name or a nickname for that matter, instead of some dude named “GetRichQuick”, lol. I do like to reward my commenters and for that they get a dofollow link after 3 approved comments and a link to their latest blog post via comluv. I don’t use keywordluv and rarely use it when I comment. No special reason really…
Regarding ‘dofollow’ there are more pros & cons but I want to reward my commenters by linking to them from inside posts whenever relevant. I wish Google turn off this attribute as the crawlers are been much smarter now.
Whilst I use the plugin, I would never delete the field. I delete the comment as I do now if they do not follow the rules…why punish others?

I agree Dennis. I suggested to them who does not wish to share link love with fellow bloggers or those for whom URL field is completely irrelevant as with my ICT Trends. We can’t think of removing when we all are trending to ‘sharing enriches’!
Hats of to you, Suresh. You are a great blogger. A comment inspires you to write a post and you post your article the next day.
Sometimes glitches do cause hurdles in using plugins. I hope we see a solution soon.
Thank you Kavita. Appreciate your continued support.
